Grasslands in North America, particularly in Coahuila, Mexico, are a vital source of forage for extensive livestock farming. However, uncontrolled grazing has led to degradation in the composition of desirable forage species, with the replacement of nutritious plants by less palatable species and soil compaction. This situation negatively impacts the health of the grasslands. As a rehabilitation strategy, the implementation of exclusion areas is proposed. These are selected plots where livestock access is restricted for a set period, allowing for vegetation recovery and improving soil stability.
